PROJECT AWARDED WITH THE PRIZE
"ARTAMARI RESIDENCY - PARALLEL PROJECT"

"Journey to Hierapytna" ("Viaggio a Hierapytna") by Lorenzo Bruschini is a contemporary art project initiated in 2008, with the study of historical materials and Ancient Greek, and followed up in 2014 with a journey through Central Greece and the Peloponnese and an Artist's Residency on the island of Crete. The project is currently in its third phase, launched in 2018, with the publication of the Artist's Book (IanuArte, 2018) and the promotion of the travelling exhibition "Scendeva Simile alla Notte", that premiered at Rome's RvB Arts Gallery, with a presentation at the Accademia delle Belle Arti. The next scheduled venue, in 2020, is the Museo Nazionale del Complesso Monumentale del San Giovanni in Catanzaro, one of Magna Graecia's most prestigious museums, under the patronage of the Embassy of the Hellenic Republic in Italy.

"UTOPIA"
VIDEO INSTALLATION COMMISIONED BY
THE FRENCH ACADEMY IN ROME

Video and audio installation. Animated drawings by Lorenzo Bruschini / Audio text by Miguel Bonnefoy. The installation was first presented on June 13, 2019, before an audience of 3,000 people, on the opening date of the ninth edition of the "Festival di Musica e Arti Visive VILLA APERTA" in the gardens of Villa Medici, at the French Academy in Rome, with large scale images being projected on the Villa's Reinassance facade. Time suspension, oneiric metaphor, poetry and unveiling of the symbolic key governing dreams: Ariadne's thread, that guides the spectator into the exploration of this oneiric labyrinth, is the dual line of a two-voice creation that, with the complicity of darkness and the the authors' hypnotic audio, leads the observer into the realm of dreams.
